SOCIAL JUSTICE POSTER Art has always been used to reflect the times. Students were invited to investigate and discuss a variety of past and present issues faced in our society. Through using prior knowledge of tradition and non-traditional materials students created art to bring about awareness to social topics they cared deeply about. -Mrs. Cole ALBUM COVERS Music and art are both used to communicate and tell a story. Through connecting with their taste of music, students were encouraged to recreate an album cover they related to or create an album cover for the “soundtrack of their lives”. -Mrs. Cole NAME PROJECT Artist are always being innovative and resourceful, especially during challenging times. Therefore, students were challenged to change their perspective about art materials. Through the activity of spelling their name, students learned that they may use objects from around their home to create art. -Mrs. Cole IDENTITY COLLAGE We are not always in control of how others see us. However, with art, we are able to show how we see ourselves. Through getting familiar with Google Draw students were able to create a collage showing aspects of their identity. -Mrs. Cole OBJECT COLOR WHEEL We often have more at our disposal than we realize, therefore I challenged students to revisit what they already have access to. Through arranging an object color wheel, students were able to recognize the relationship between color and learn the foundations of color theory. -Mrs. Cole |
